
Leona Louise Lewis, born 3 April 1985. She is an actor an activist, singer and actress who hails from Britain. Born and raised within the London Borough of Islington, she was a student at the BRIT School for Performing Arts and Technology located in Croydon. Lewis was a star on the national stage when she was crowned the winner of The"X Factor"'s third series in 2006. She also received the PS1 million recording contract with Syco Music. Her winning song, an original cover from Kelly Clarkson's "A Moment like This" which peaked at the top of the charts, reached the top spot for several weeks on the UK Singles Chart and broke the world record for 100,000 digital downloads in only thirty minutes. Clive Davis, Lewis's American record label J Records signed Lewis a 5-album deal in February. The artist's popularity grew with the release of her debut studio album, Spirit (2007), which received a platinum certification of 10x in the UK and was subsequently the fourth top-selling album in the 2000s and one of the best-selling albums in UK chart time. The Official Charts Company claims that Spirit was the best-selling 21st century female debut album. Its top-selling single in the United Kingdom, Bleeding Love, remained at No. 1 for seven weeks before becoming the top-selling single of 2007 According to the Official Charts company. In the US It was the top-selling single in the year and Lewis was named the best new Artist by Billboard the same year. She released Echo in 2009 and also created "I I See You" which was the film's title track. Lewis also came out with "Collide" in the year 2011 as a collaborative effort with Swedish DJ Avicii. In addition, she dropped Hurt, the EP, her first extended performance. The third album she released, Glassheart (2012), was a departure in direction for Lewis who draws inspiration from dubstep and electronic music. The singer began recording material for her Christmas debut album during her Glassheart Tour, which took between mid 2013 and. Later that year, Christmas with Love, which featured the lead single "One more night" it reached the top three spot across the UK. Lewis, an British female solo artist, was the first artist to make it into the top of the list with eight songs. This is more than Olivia Newton John's seven-year record.
